The commission is a Washington state agency managing the Washington state park system that includes over 120 developed parks, recreation programs, trails, boating safety, and winter recreation.
(1) The agency is governed by a commission consisting of seven citizens of the state, appointed by the governor.
(2) The director is appointed by the commission and the director is executive head of the agency.
(3) An executive cabinet reports to the director. Cabinet members manage various divisions within the agency including: Operations; parks development; stewardship; business support services; legislative, external, and tribal relations; and workforce, technology, and equity.
