EMERGENCY RULES

Effective Date of Rule: January 19, 2021.
Purpose: The purpose of this emergency rule is to close recreational salmon fishing in Marine Area 10.
Citation of Rules Affected by this Order: Amending WAC 220-313-060.
Under RCW
34.05.350 the agency for good cause finds that immediate adoption, amendment, or repeal of a rule is necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, or general welfare, and that observing the time requirements of notice and opportunity to comment upon adoption of a permanent rule would be contrary to the public interest.
Reasons for this Finding: This emergency rule is necessary because anglers have reached nearly half (two hundred eighty-two of five hundred seventy-nine) of this fishery's allowed natural origin Chinook encounter guideline within the first ten days of the season. Washington department of fish and wildlife, in consultation with fishing advisors for Puget Sound, has decided to temporarily close this fishery until later in the season in order to preserve future fishing opportunities and to limit impacts to natural origin Chinook. There is insufficient time to adopt permanent rules.

WAC 220-313-06000ZPuget Sound salmon—Saltwater seasons and daily limits.
Effective January 19, 2021, until further notice, the following provisions of WAC 220-313-060 regarding salmon seasons for Marine Area 10 shall be modified as described below. All other provisions of WAC 220-313-060 not addressed herein, or unless otherwise amended by emergency rule, remain in effect:
