WSR 17-17-085 PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE [Filed August 16, 2017, 4:31 p.m.] Subject of Possible Rule Making: The department needs to adopt a permanent rule to clarify the types of endangered animals that are defined as covered animal species under RCW 77.08.010. Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 77.04.012, 77.12.240, 77.04.055, 77.12.047, 77.12.150, 77.32.090, and 77.32.530. Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: The purpose of this rule is to further define and clarify by scientific classification the covered animal species that are subject to RCW 77.08.010 and also referred to in Appendix I and II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species and the International Union for Conservation of Nature "Red List."
