Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: EHB 1595 (chapter 304, Laws of 2017), chapters 42.56 and 43.330 RCW. Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: This rule making is needed to update commerce's WAC implementing the Public Records Act to reflect changes to the act in the 2017 legislative session. Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: Commerce's public records officer will develop the rule updates in consultation with the attorney general and code reviser's offices. Process for Developing New Rule: Commerce's public records office will coordinate rule development with relevant state agencies. Interested parties can participate in the decision to adopt the new rule and formulation of the proposed rule before publication.
