PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY

SUPERINTENDENT OF

PUBLIC INSTRUCTION

     Subject of Possible Rule Making: WAC 392-500-030 Pupil tests and records.

     Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 28A.300.040, 28A.300.045.

     Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: The Washington State Public Health Association has requested a revision of WAC 392-500-030 in order to create unified procedures for administering student surveys.

     Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: The United States Department of Education regulates the collection and dissemination of certain student data.

     Process for Developing New Rule:      Agency study.
