PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH

     Subject of Possible Rule Making: WAC 246-927-XXX AIDS education and training for recreational therapists.

     Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 70.24.270, 70.24.250, and 18.230.040.

     Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: RCW 70.24.270 and 18.230.040 requires all practitioners to demonstrate completion of AIDS education prior to initially obtaining a health care credential. Rules must be developed to determine the number of hours of AIDS education and training that are required for recreational therapists.

     Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: None.

     Process for Developing New Rule: Collaborative rule making.
